Job Title: Director of Quality

Direct Hire Opening -company Benefits, PTO, Holiday 401K, Performance bonuses.

Location: Norfolk/Chesapeake, VA area

Position Overview:

The Director of Quality is responsible for leading and overseeing all Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) systems and activities across all company regions. This individual ensures the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS), drives continuous improvement, and fosters a culture of excellence throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide the development, implementation, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the Quality Management System.
  • Manage the global change control system to ensure effective and compliant implementation of changes.
  • Perform Quality Risk Assessments to identify and mitigate potential quality and compliance issues.
  • Lead Supplier Quality performance monitoring, development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Direct root cause analysis investigations and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Oversee the planning and execution of internal and external quality audits and inspections.
  • Approve final audit reports and ensure appropriate follow-up and closure of audit findings.
  • Promote a culture of problem solving and continuous improvement through strategic guidance and coaching.
  • Provide leadership and resolution for customer warranty issues and concerns.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers in line with company's commitment to “Customer First” and delivering an “Unmatched Customer Experience.”

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Mathematics, Business, or a related Science discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive quality management experience within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification required, with hands-on experience applying Six Sigma, ISO 9001, Lean Manufacturing, 8D Methodology, and other continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Proven leadership and team-building skills with the ability to foster collaboration across departments.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive customer and supplier relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills with a detail-oriented mindset and sound decision-making ability.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management capabilities.
  • Must be a participative team member with a proactive approach to quality and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or additional certifications in Quality or Operational Excellence.
  • Experience in a global or multi-site quality leadership role.
  • Experience with High Mix, Low Volume Manufacturing
